Ready to Lead 2nd Edition (2016)
I want you to succeed in your new position as principal. The principalship is the most difficult job in education. There is a shortage of quality principals and the students in your community need you to be successful to improve their own chances of success. Joining a new campus, even in a familiar district, requires you to develop an entrance strategy. A strategy for you to avoid the mistakes that can irreparably damage your leadership effectiveness and that encourages you to wait to make changes until you have connected with your stakeholders. This handbook and subsequent revisions represent my effort at sharing the best practices acquired through experience, relationships, mentoring, and research. The ideas are heavily influenced from countless conversations with the great people I have been able to work with at Waller ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Life Schools of Dallas, social media, and throughout my career.
